After checking about 35 reviews on this Penn AF spinning reel there are pros and cons to it the pros outnumber the cons. There were a few bad reels I saw 3 complaints about taking to long to battle a big fish a couple about the handle being small and a few that just broke down. Those that liked it loved it and couldn’t praise it enough.

Has the same features as the SS gr but in metal. These reels are mainly used for surf fishing but can also be used in deep water fishing for big fish like cobia, tarpon, red fish and a lot of other deep dwellers. The Penn Spinfisher SS m is a tough guy spinning reel it has the muscle to bring in big fish. They are sand and water tight they can stand up to anything mother nature can throw at it.

All you need to do is be sure to wash it off with a hose after your done and once a month put some Penn lube in it however if your using it every day do it twice a month a lil dab will do ya lol. The Penn Spinfisher SS m Spinning Reels have plenty of cranking power to bring in even the most stubborn of fish!

There are two types of Penn Spinfisher Spinning Reels one is SS graphite series the other is the SS metal series. They are almost identical in looks now, the graphite series is fantastic for light fresh water fishing to heavy fresh water fishing its also good for light saltwater fishing. They cast really smooth and you can cast a lot further and it has plenty of cranking power to bring those big ones in. You can cast all day without wearing your self out.



The Penn Spinfisher SS graphite Spinning Reels have a fail free bail spring a stainless steel main-shaft the drag is in front and easily accessed it has 5 stainless steel ball bearings and an anti reverse rolling bearing. All this adds up to some awesome Penn Spinning Reels.

Although there are a few people that dislike this Penn Reel due to their line twisting and becoming snarled I personally have never had this trouble perhaps because i use a snap swivel on my line. Most people really love how easy it is to use and how well it casts.

There’s a lot of different Penn Reels for sale I currently own 4 different Spinfishers 1 220 gr SS, 4300 SSm, 4400 SSm and 1 710 SS green. I also have a 65 Long Beach level wind, 309 Penn Peer level wind, #10 casting reel, 320 GTI graphite level wind and I also have a very old Bay Head with a wood knob instead of the more familiar plastic knob on metal handle it also has a clipper ship on the other side I bought this at a yard sale it still works and it was attached to a heavy duty 6’ bamboo rod.

I have tried other spinning and casting reels and a few level winds but they broke down none of the Penn Reels I own have ever let me down. I have had many birds nests after casting with the level winds but that was normal since they did not have brakes like they do on most new reels nowadays.

What you want is a reel that will do the job your buying it for but you also want one that’s going to last! One that you can get spare parts for if it ever does break down, course if it doesn’t that’s cool. You want a dependable reel like Penn Reels
Not a cheapo that may break down when you need it most. You are investing your hard earned cash into a reel so get one people recommend that’s been around a while don’t get something just because it sounds good do a little bit of research first then when you are sure buy it.
